After awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.
A young woman in El Paso, Texas, awakens after a four year long coma to find her baby daughter gone and immediately swears revenge on the people that put her in this position. As her story unfolds we learn that the mysterious woman had a really checkered past and was a member of an elite squad of assassins and highly trained in martial arts and advanced sword fighting. Her plans to get married and live a peaceful life were quickly taken away from her by her boss, known only as "Bill". Bill and the remaining members of his elite squad stage an attack on her wedding, leaving no witnesses behind. The woman, known only as "The Bride", heads to Pasadena, CA to confront another on her list, and then to Okinawa, Japan, where she meets a highly sought after blade maker named Hattori Hanzo. Hanzo, who had given up the craft several years ago, is reluctant to help The Bride at first, crafts her a new sword which she uses to take out her revenge. Now heading to Tokyo, The Bride sets her sight on the next member of her list - O'Ren Ishii, the head of the Japanese mafia, and her own private army who she used to carry out the attack on The Bride's wedding. Will The Bride carry out her plans and give Bill his just desserts?
In true Quentin Tarantino form, this film takes you for a ride into uncharted territory. Twisting and turning down a narrow mountain pass in the dead of night, blind folds on, at Mach I with your hair on fire.<br/><br/>The gore is disturbingly funny, almost of Monty Python genre. Several times I laughed out loud during the film, while most of the theatre was quite, in shock I suppose. Uma pulled off her part in a most convincing manner, you believe she could kill you with the wink of an eye. Much better than Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider. Uma was scary and sexy at the same time. A must see on the big screen. 9 stars.
After being quite aprehensive about watching Kill Bill and knowing nothing about the movie, all I can say is it completely blew my mind away. Being as I have never really seen any of Tarantino&#39;s movies, I watched with an open mind and no expectations. The first few seconds of the movie grabbed my attention and pulled me into his bloodthirsty world. That was it, bathroom break or not, I wasn&#39;t going anywhere till it was over. Brilliant casting and definately Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu at their finest. I&#39;m not much of a fan of Anime either but the Anime which explained the story of O-Ren Ishii(Liu) worked brilliantly well. Violent, bloodthirsty, disturbing, heart warming, amusing at times and outstanding fight scenes, make this for me one of the best movies to hit the silver screen in a very long time. I never knew it was a 2 part movie so I was very disappointed when it ended and now can&#39;t wait for the 2nd episode. Will definately be buying the DVD when it&#39;s released and even the soundtrack is excellent. Altogether it&#39;s a well earned 10/10 from me.
Is Kill Bill a homage to great Asian action movies? Yes. Is Tarantino trying to outdo his cherished masters (on a budget that dwarfs their films)? Of course. Is there any other point of any of this? Let's see "Vol. 2."
